After a New Year

I don’t make New Year’s resolutions anymore. I stopped doing that about 8 years ago. For some time I made year mottos, but that only last 3 years. Now, I just try and live a good life and become a better person. Do you set New Year’s resolutions still? If so, what are some of yours for this year?

Oktoberfest 2017

We have to get outdoors before the snow comes! So I am glad this weekend we did just that. We got up in two different canyons and enjoyed some stunning fall foliage.

Millcreek Canyon.

David, looking as handsome as ever.

We made it to the top of Millcreek Canyon before the sun set. We let the dogs off to run the trail and they had a muddy good time.

Saturday, all of David’s family headed up Little Cottonwood Canyon for Oktoberfest at Snowbird.

The food was eh, and expensive, so a great combination of regret set in after eating. Never mind Ryan’s expression.

Next year, I know exactly what I will order.

The food aside, we had a great time at Oktoberfest.

Me and David.

It was usually hot in the valley so the mountains had a perfect, crisp air for the event.

Snowbird, Utah.

This was the first time the whole Swain family was together, in a very long time.

Our friend Dan, showed us a new dog park very close to our home. This will certainly be a go to spot for us the and pups.

Saturday evening and Sunday night, we help Beth make Apple Cider Donuts.

After the fry machine that leaked oil everywhere, Jossy (David’s father), was able to get it working.

A lot of people took turns helping to make the donuts in all of their stages.

They turned out very yummy!

Wedding Venue Searching

While only feeling partially healthy, David and I headed out into the canyon to start looking for venues for our wedding. I had done quite a bit of research already on locations, but we wanted to see them in person in the season our wedding would take place. The location for the ceremony was absolutely perfect.

The ceremony location.

The area close to the ceremony spot will provide some beautiful spots for photographs as well.

On Sunday, we headed up the canyon once again to Silver Lake, before it gets completely snowed in.

The fall colors with dusted snow was a magical scene.

It was a little colder than we expected, but at least we brought jackets.

Silver Lake is quiet possibly one of my favorite spots in Utah.

On the drive down the canyon, this distant vista was celestial.

The fall colors are prime on the mountain sides right now.

Sunday night, Brooke and Jaycee stopped by for dinner. Jaycee fell in love with little Boston. She tried to sneak him out more than a few times.

David, Jaycee (holding Boston), Brooke, Me (with Theo). This was only our fourth try to get a photo.
